Caskey named Conference Player of the Year; Four earn All-Conference honors

NORTH EAST, Pa. - Jenna Caskey earns Western New York Athletic Conference Player of the Year while a total of four Jayhawks were named to the All-Conference team.

The Jayhawks have had a tremendous year once again, going undefeated in Region III action. JCC had a dominate run dating back to early September where they won 21 straight matches. The league took notice of the dominate play as Jenna Caskey, Maddy Russo, Karleigh Haines and Cameryn Hawkins were named to the All-WNYAC team. Head Coach Ashley Lund was also named the conference coach of the year.

Jenna Caskey, Sophomore Outside Hitter - Conference Player of the Year, All-Conference

Caskey has compiled 308 kills on the season, getting 3.42 kills per set. Caskey has connected on .297 percent of her swings as well. Caskey saw her best match of the season against Monroe Community College where she had 19 kills. Caskey had six matches where she had 15 or more kills

Caskey also isn't afraid to be active on the defense side of the ball as she has 306 digs on the year. Caskey has also been a force at the front of the net, tallying 33 total blocks (24 block solo, nine block assists).

Maddy Russo, Sophomore Right Side - All-Conference

Russo has been a bright spot for the Jayhawks offense, taking over the roll as setter. She has 842 assists on the season, averaging 9.57 assists per set. Russo had a career-high 50 assists against Corning Community College. Russo has compiled 17 matches where she has surpassed the 30 assists mark.

On the defensive side of the ball, Russo has tallied 160 digs.

Karleigh Haines, Freshman Outside Hitter - All-Conference

Haines been stellar in her first season of collegiate play. Haines had 279 kills on the season, averaging 3.49 kills per set. Haines had a career-high 21 kills against SUNY Broome Community College. Haines had five matches where she had 15 or more kills in a match.

Haines has also given the Jayhawks an advantage on the defensive side of the ball. Haines has a total of 44 blocks on the season with 27 of the blocks were solo.

Cameryn Hawkins, Sophomore Libero - All-Conference

Hawkins has stepped up her play in her sophomore year, increasing her digs by well over 100 from her freshman year. Hawkins has 388 digs on the year, averaging 4.17 digs per set. Hawkins has been essential in transitioning defense into offense.

Ashley Lund, Head Coach - Conference Coach of the Year

Head Coach Ashley Lund has been named the WNYAC Coach of the Year and it should come at no surprise. Lund has coached her squad to a 24-5 mark on the year with a perfect record in Region III action. Lund has coached her team to a 21-match win streak while only falling in 17 sets on the season.
