Caskey named Region III Player of the Year; three named to All-Region Teams

SANBORN - After an impressive season thus far, the Jamestown Community College volleyball team had three players named to the Region III All-Region team, including the Region Player of the Year and Coach of the Year.

Jenna Caskey was named Region III Conference Player of the Year as well as being an All-Region first team selection. Karleigh Haines was also a first team selection while Cameryn Hawkins was a third team selection. Head Coach Ashley Lund was named the Coach of the Year for Region III.

Jenna Caskey, Sophomore Outside Hitter - Region Player of the Year, All-Region First Team

Caskey, a native of Sinclairville, N.Y., has racked up 366 kills on the year so far including 58 kills in the Region III Championship Tournament. Caskey is connecting on .300 percent of her attacks which is first on the team. Caskey has also been a presence on the defensive side of the ball, tallying up 275 digs on the year. Caskey has also been a force at the net with a total of 36 blocks (26 block solo, nine block assists) on the year.

Karleigh Haines, Freshman Outside Hitter - All-Region First Team

Haines, a native of Jamestown, N.Y., has had a very successful first season in a Jayhawks uniform. Haines is second on the team in kills with 347 to go along with 3.58 kills per set. Haines also played a key role in the victory over Broome, tallying 15 kills. Haines had a combined 51 kills on the weekend at the Region III Championship Tournament.

Cameryn Hawkins, Sophomore Libero - All-Region Third Team

Hawkins, a native of Ripley, N.Y., has been a key player for this year's squad, controlling the backcourt. Hawkins has a total of 451 digs which is first on the team. Hawkins was able to add 63 kills in the Region III tournament, including 21 in the championship game.

Ashly Lund, Head Coach - Region Coach of the Year

Lund has had her team in the right mindset from the start of the season. Lund was able to coach her team to the No. 1 seed in the region with a 23-4 record. After a stunning defeat in the WNYAC Tournament against Genesee Community College, Lund was able to get her team back on track, winning four matches in the Region III Championship Tournament and the team's third-straight Region III Championship.
