JCC's Bats Find Spark in Losses to Erie CC

BUFFALO, NY - The Jamestown Community College softball team lost both its games up in Erie 14-3 and 14-5, but the bats had some pop for the first time this season. The Jayhawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in game one thanks to RBIs by Jacquelyn Nickerson, Haleigha Hardy, and Cheznea Rivera. The lead didn't last as errors bit JCC again, with five of them leading to 11 of Erie's 14 runs. Aside from the RBIs, it was Angelique Palacio going two-for-two from the plate with a walk.

Game two was a similar story, with JCC scoring five runs, the most by the Jayhawks all season. They fell into an early hole, trailing 4-0 before pushing three runs across in the 2nd to draw within one. Unfortunately, seven walks helped the Kats to their 14-5 victory. Emma Lindsey was solid at the dish with two hits in two plate appearances, with an RBI, Nickerson went two-for-three, and Rivera batted .500 with an RBI.

The losses drop Jamestown 0-6 on the season, but they have some foundation to build on.

JCC returns to the diamond on Saturday when they visit Mohawk Valley for games at 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
