Four Jayhawks Earn All-WNYAC Honors

ROCHESTER – The Western New York Athletic Conference has announced the 2023 All-WNYAC Softball Teams with four Jamestown Community College players getting the nod.

 

For the Jayhawks, four freshman earned recognition with Angelique Palacio (Tucson, AZ/Desert View HS) and Sydney Dahl (South Dayton, NY/Pine Valley HS) receiving First Team All-WNYAC honors with Savanna Krystofiak (Brocton, NY/Brocton HS) and Jena Vacanti (Brocton, NY/Brocton HS) received Second Team All-WNYAC honors.

 

Angelique Palacio, Freshman Outfielder – First Team All-WNYAC

Palacio was an absolute machine at the plate for the Jayhawks as she led all of the NJCAA Division III in slugging percentage (1.324) while also ranking third in NJCAA Region 3 in on-base percentage (.641) and in batting average (.588).

 

During her first season, Palacio led the team in hits with 20 including 12 extra-base hits. Palacio led the team in triples (5) and in homeruns (4). Palacio was second on the team in doubles (3). Palacio also was smart on the basepaths, leading the team in stolen bases (7).

 

Palacio was also solid in the outfield, getting 22 putouts on 23 chances for a fielding percentage of .957.

 

Sydney Dahl, Freshman Catcher – First Team All-WNYAC

Dahl was a solid player for JCC this past season, finishing second on the team in hits (15) and batting average (.417), as well as finishing third on the team in on-base percentage (.462) and slugging percentage (.528).

 

Dahl was also solid on the defensive side, making 25 putouts of 29 chances for a fielding percentage of .897.

 

Savanna Krystofiak, Freshman First Base – Second Team All-WNYAC

Krystofiak put together a fine freshman season where she led the team in doubles (5), was second on the team in on-base percentage (.500) and slugging percentage (.543), and third on the team in hits (13) and batting average (.371).

 

Jena Vacanti, Freshman Third Base – Second Team All-WNYAC

Vacanti rounds out the Jayhawk players receiving postseason honors. Vacanti was fourth on the team in hits (10) as well as slugging percentage (.405).
