Softball Downed By Mohawk Valley CC

RUSSELL, Pa. - In their second consecutive home doubleheader of the week, the Jamestown Community College softball team fell in both games to Mohawk Valley Community College Saturday afternoon at Werner Park.

 

The Jayhawks (0-8, 0-8 Region 3) fell in game one by a score of 8-0 and by a score of 9-0 in game two.

 

Game 1: Mohawk Valley Community College 8 - Jamestown Community College 0

JCC was led offensively by first base Savanna Krystofiak (Brocton, NY/Brocton HS), shortstop Desiree Nelson (Window Rock, AZ/Window Rock HS), and second base Emma Lindsey (Ripley, NY/Chautauqua Lake Central) who each had a hit in the game.

 

The Hawks jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after the first inning before the Jayhawk defense put together three scoreless innings on the defensive end. MVCC was able to add five runs in the top of the fifth to take the game.

 

Lindsey Spitz (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) went the distance in the circle, surrendering eight earned runs on seven hits while striking out three batters.

 

Game 2: Mohawk Valley Community College 9 - Jamestown Community College 0

In the backend of the doubleheader, the Jayhawks had five batters collect a hit each with Lindsey ripping off a double.

 

The game was at a 0-0 deadlock through three innings before the Hawks were able to score nine runs in the fourth inning.

 

Spitz went the distance in the circle, surrendering nine earned runs on seven hits.

 

The Jayhawks will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Butler County Community College tomorrow, April 16th, with a 1 p.m. first pitch.
