Jayhawks Drop a Pair at Corning

CORNING – The Jamestown Community College softball team dropped a pair of games on the road this past Saturday against Corning Community College.

 

Game 1: Jamestown Community College 0 – Corning Community College 8

 

The Jayhawks (0-4, 0-2 WNYAC) were grounded during the first game of the doubleheader, only able to get two hits. Freshman pitcher Samantha Heppel (Angola, NY/Lake Shore Sr. HS) had one double to go along with a single by freshman third base Emily Horth (Little Valley, NY/Cattaraugus-Little Valley HS). While on the bases, Horth came away with one stolen base.

 

In the circle, Heppel went the distance. Heppel gave up seven hits while striking out six batters.

 

Game 2: Jamestown Community College 0 – Corning Community College 17

 

In the backend of the doubleheader, the Jayhawks once again faced tough pitching from the Barons, getting two hits. Freshman catcher Abbi Warner (Westfield, NY/Westfield HS) and Horth each collected a hit.

 

Freshman pitcher Brynn Pagett (Randolph, NY/Randolph HS) went the distance in the circle, earning the loss.
