JCC's Juliet Thuman Continues her Soccer Career at Pitt-Bradford

JAMESTOWN, NY - Jamestown Community College's Juliet Thuman (Buffalo, NY / Christian Central Academy) is continuing her academic and athletic careers at the University of Pittsburgh–Bradford.

"The coach reached out to me to play soccer, and I want another chance to play. Plus the nursing program there is really, really good," said Thuman.  "I am looking forward to the change of scenery. I'm excited for the different level of competition. I also really enjoy the coach and the team," she added.

The Western New York native has been part of the nursing program at JCC for two years while playing soccer.

"I was able to get all of my common core classes done here, so I can solely focus on nursing at Pitt-Bradford. I was exposed to different hospitals in the area, which opened my eyes to the career field," added Thuman.

During her Jayhawk career, she started all 22 games she appeared in, scoring three goals and seven points. The nursing major had an unconventional path to being a student-athlete, something she believes will be an asset as she takes the next road on her journey.

"In high school I played on our boys team. Moving to JCC shows me how to transition to playing with women. It also helped me in training to play different positions. In high school I was at center, and I plan to be there at Pitt-Bradford as well. So, JCC helped me to be a well-rounded athlete," she said with a smirk.

As far as his favorite memory as a Jayhawk, it was seeing a teammate excel that first came to mind.

"When we were away at TCCC, Lexi (Alexis Lundmark) scored a hat trick. That was a good day. Then this year we tied Corning, which was a great accomplishment for us," said the sophomore.

It's more time with those teammates, but in a different jersey that Juliet now looks forward to.

"I am really excited to play against JCC. It will be fun to get to play against the girls I was teammates with the previous year," Thuman added.

Thuman and the rest of the Pitt-Bradford Panthers hold their first practice on August 15th; their first scrimmage is set for August 18th.
