ROCHESTER – Getting back in Region 3 play, the Jamestown Community College women's basketball team grinded out a 68-67 win Wednesday evening at Monroe Community College.

The Jayhawks (11-7, 4-1 Region 3) were led by sophomore forward Hannah Hicks (Cleveland, OH/Cleveland Heights) who had a season-high 24 points while grabbing 17 rebounds (2 offense, 15 defense) to complete the double-double. Sophomore guard D'Auzhanay Harden (Erie, PA/Erie HS) did it on both ends of the floor, scoring 19 points, six assists and five steals. Freshman forwards Grace Lundmark (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) also played a critical role, scoring 13 points.

After trailing 32-30 after a half of play, JCC found their rhythm in the third quarter, outscoring the Tribunes 18-12. In the quarter, the Jayhawks relied on their post players Hicks and Lundmark who combined for 14 points.

In the final quarter of play, the Jayhawks saw their lead get to as many of 10 points but MCC was able to tie the game at 67-67 with 15 second remaining in regulation. In the closing seconds, Harden was fouled and converted the backend of her free throw attempts which proved to be the difference maker.

JCC went 31-for-80 (38.8 percent) from the field with MCC going 26-for-69 (37.7 percent) from the floor. The Jayhawks were able to convert defense to offense, scoring 20 points off turnovers to the Tribunes' five points.

The Jayhawks will be back in action this Friday, February 3rd, for a 3 p.m. game against Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse.
