Harden Goes For 25 As Jayhawks Fall To Niagara County CC

JAMESTOWN - In their second Region 3 game of the season, the Jamestown Community College women's basketball team was bested by Niagara County Community College by a score of 71-53 Wednesday evening.

 

The Jayhawks (4-7, 1-1 Region 3) were led offensively by sophomore guard D'Auzhanay Harden (Erie, PA/Erie HS) who scored a season-high 25 points with sophomore forward Hannah Hicks (Cleveland, OH/Cleveland Heights) adding 17 points in the effort. Hicks also led the team in rebounds, grabbing 23 boards (8 offense, 15 defense).

 

The Thunderwolves came out in the first quarter of action with a 19-9 lead after 10 minutes of action. JCC answered in the start of the second, getting baskets from Hicks and Harden to make it 19-13 with just under nine minutes until the break. The six point deficit was all the Jayhawks could do to mustard a comeback before NCCC would slowly build upon their lead.

 

The Jayhawks went 19-for-67 (28.4 percent) from the field with the Thunderwolves going 28-for-84 (33.3 percent) from the floor. NCCC held the slight edge on the glass, grabbing 56 rebounds to JCC's 53.

 

The Jayhawks will be off until next Wednesday, December 14th, as they host Monroe Community College starting at 5:30 p.m.
