Jayhawks Will Seek Revenge Against the Thunderwolves in the Region 3 Championship Game

JAMESTOWN – Looking to keep their season going for a few more weeks, the Jamestown Community College women's basketball team will face Niagara County Community College this weekend in the NJCAA Region 3 Championship game.

 

The Jayhawks (3-7) hold a record of 1-3 against the Thunderwolves after a narrow 94-89 defeat this past Tuesday evening. In the game, freshman forward Nadara Odell (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS) had a game-high 31 points while freshman forward Hannah Hick (Cleveland, OH/Cleveland Heights) posted her seventh double-double of the season with a 20 points, 22 rebounds (6 offense, 16 defense) performance. Freshman guard Kymi Nance (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS) added 21 points in the effort.

 

Hicks has been a force against NCCC, averaging a double-double with 19 points and 19 rebounds per contest. Hicks has also scored a career-high against the Thunderwolves with 33 points on March 24th.

 

As a team, the Jayhawks are averaging 94.8 points scored per game on 35.8 percent shooting from the field against NCCC. Odell leads the way with 22.8 points scored including a career-high 33 points in a 119-111 victory. Nance is adding 18.3 points per contest including scoring a career-high 30 points in the same game. Freshman guard Jessica Beehler (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS) has been the facilitator of the offense, averaging 7.7 assists per contest.

 

On the glass, the Jayhawks are averaging 62.9 rebounds per game. To go along with Hicks' 19 rebounds per outing, Odell is chipping in with 8.3 rebounds per contest.

 

In their last game against the Jayhawks, the Thunderwolves were led by Gabrielle McDuffie with 19 points and 15 rebounds (6 offense, 9 defense) with Alania Forbes adding 20 points. Ashley Tucker came up big on the glass, grabbing 14 rebounds (5 offense, 9 defense).

 

In their matchups against the Jayhawks, the Thunderwovles are averaging 107 points while shooting 38.3 percent from the field. NCCC has five players averaging double-digit scoring games with McDuffie leading the way with 28 points per game.

 

On the boards, NCCC is averaging 76 rebounds per game with McDuffie leading the way with 15.7 rebounds per contest. Tucker is second on the team with 9.3 rebounds per game.
