Jayhawks' eSports Suffers First Loss of Season

OLEAN, NY - The Jamstown Community College (JCC) Jayhawk's Valorant team experienced their first loss this season in a 2-1 defeat against the Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) Nighthawks.

Jamestown found itself off to an early 2-0 lead in Game 1, but that quickly turned to a 3-7 round deficit. However, a strong rally, led by Captain Joshua David with a game-leading 32 kills, gave the Jayhawks a Game 1 win by a score of 13 rounds to 10.

From there, the Nighthawks cruised through Game 2 to even the series with a dominant 13-3 win.

NVCC's momentum would carry into Game 3, where they would be on the cusp of victory with a 12-2 round advantage. Not to go down without a fight, the Jayhawks would rally to win 5 in a row before ultimately coming out on the losing end of a 13-7 decision.

Final match stats would have total kills for the Jayhawks at 180, 221 for the bad guys. JCC would lead the assist column 72-65. While we led in bombs planted (24-18), we were only able to defuse 5 of their 18 versus their 11 of our 24. Josh Baker ended the series tied with an opponent player for most kills (58), while Jamie Jimerson would be tied for most bombs planted (7).
The Jayhawks fall to 1-1 on the season, and with a week off for break, their next match is slated for Thursday, October 24th.
