Jayhawks Fly Over Finger Lakes in eSports Win
OLEAN, NY - Jamestown Community College eSports evened its record at 3-3 on the year with a 2-0 win over Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) on Friday night. The Jayhawks took Game One 7-1 and Game Two 7-4. Both matches started with FLCC taking an early 1-0 round lead, but JCC rebounded and, in the case of Game One, never looked back. Aman Gulamov played his best match of the season, putting up an impressive 20 kills and four assists, trailing only Olean High School junior Alex Ash-West for most eliminations in the game (27). Captain Drake Kavanagh, realizing Aman had the hot hand, was able to take a more supportive and strategic role, posting 14 kills and seven assists. Gabe Hardwick contributed 15 kills and eight assists to the winning effort, while Richard Riley finished with seven kills and a team-leading nine assists.

It was more of the same, but slightly closer in game two with FLCC making some substitutions, but the Jayhawks were able to hold off their rally and secure the match 7-4 for the sweep of the three-game series.

"The sheer number of assists the boys put up tonight was a strong statement of how well their team play has come in our short season thus far. Combined with the high kill count, it was easily our most complete match of the season. We were winning gun fights that maybe we lost at times earlier in the season, and if we didn't, there was almost always someone there to finish the job," said head coach James DiBlasi.

Jamestown looks to keep the momentum going next Friday, April 12th, versus an opponent yet to be determined.
