Jayhawks Open eSports Season with a Tough Loss

JAMESTOWN, NY - Jamestown Community College opened the 2024 eSports season with a tough loss to State Fair Community College, 2-0 in Rainbow Six: Siege.

The leader of the Jayhawks, Drake Kavanagh, had a solid performance with 3,250 points over the match, including ten kills and two assists.

Joshua David also had an impressive showing with 2,895 points, 13 kills, and one assist.

"While this wasn't the result we wanted coming out of the gate, this was the first time the five of them sat shoulder-to-shoulder for an in-person matchup. I am proud of the composure and level of engagement that the boys had throughout the match. There are definitely some rounds and individual plays that I know they want back, and cleaning up some of those small mistakes that can sway a match will be a point of focus going forward. Most of them went right to it and held an impromptu film session in the eSports arena after the match, followed by a practice when they returned home and to the dorms. That is the type of character that will lead to big team wins down the stretch. Overall, we are hoping to build off our small victories and the experience of the loss," said head coach James DiBlasi.

Next up for the Dirty Birds in a match on Friday, March 1st, versus an opponent yet to be determined.
