KIRKLAND, OH - Jamestown Community College (JCC) baseball split their Saturday doubleheader with Lakeland Community College, taking game one 15-3 and dropping game 2 12-2.
The Jayhawks put together a near-perfect seventh inning in game one. Entering the seventh tied at 3-3, Jamestown scored 12 runs in their half of the inning to secure the victory. JCC was led at the plate by freshman Gabe Roth, who had a pair of hits and six RBI. He was joined with big games from Seth Ranieri, who added four runs; Josue Rosario drove home two; and Cadyn Wilson, Luke Larson, and Santino Musone all had an RBI. Sophomore Dylan Kinney was fantastic on the mound, tossing four innings of scoreless ball with a pair of strikeouts. In all, JCC had 18 hits in the game en route to the 12-run win.
The Birds weren't as fortunate in game two, falling by ten runs. It was a tough third inning where Lakeland scored nine runs that put JCC in too big of a hole to overcome. Errors were an issue, with only five of the 12 runs being earned.
The split moves Jamestown to 4-8 on the season. Next up is the home opener with Corning Community College set to come to Jamestown's Diethrick Park on Saturday, March 22nd, for games at 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM.
