CUMBERLAND, NY - It's been three months since the Jamestown Community College (JCC) baseball team took the diamond, and they did so for the first time with a win at Rowan College South Jersey—Cumberland Friday afternoon.
The Jayhawks took down the Dukes in game one of their doubleheader 9-7 in an extra inning affair that went into the 8th.
Lefty Dylan Kinney got the start on the mound. The sophomore excited the game allowing no hits, and no runs, with six strikeouts.
JCC jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the top of the 1st before RCSJ was able to climb back and force extra innings tied at 7-7.
Jamestown's sticks had just enough life left in them to plate a pair in the top of the 8th to secure the two-run win.
Freshman Santino Musone got the win in relief.
Game two wasn't as kind to JCC, falling 10-0.
Jamestown surrendered nine runs in the 2nd inning and weren't able to get the bats going.
Freshman Yadiel Garcia comes home with the loss.
Errors were an issue early on for JCC; that is to be expected with their first two games of the season.
They look to build off of the split on Saturday when they are right back at it against the Dukes with games scheduled for noon and 3:00 PM.
