JAMESTOWN, NY - The Jamestown Community College baseball team compiled its best season in over a decade, finishing 2024 with a 16-23 record, 15-15 in Region 3 play. The Jayhawks ended the year winning 12 of their last 16 games, including a pair of five-game winning streaks. 

JCC was led at the plate by freshman Mitchell McKinney, who batted .434, good enough for first in Region 3 (at the time of writing this recap). He was followed up by sophomores Lucas Marsh, Timothy Johnson, and De'Sean Rogers, who all batted over .350 as well. When it came to scoring runs, the Jayhawks had three batters top the 20 RBI mark. McKinney again led the way with 29, while Marsh had 25, and Tim Beimel finished third on the team at 24. The leaders in runs scored were some more familiar names. Johnson and Rogers tied with 29, Harley Hoag had 26, as did McKinney, and Hayden Hoag rounded out the top five with 20. As for hits, the Jayhawks had five batters top 40 or more, starting with Rogers' 47, Marsh and McKinney each with 43, Johnson had 41, and Harley Hoag with 40. The squad also had some thieves on the roster, with Johnson finishing fifth in Region 3 at 27 steals and McKinney had 22.

On the mound, JCC had a pair of Jayhawks finish top-10 in Earned Run Average (ERA), with Rogers' 2.68 being good enough for 4th and Josh Martos' 3.27 finishing 10th. Dylan Kinney led the way in strikeouts notching 36, Rogers had 33, and Martos tossed 31. Behind the plate, Jax Arcuri was top five in runners caught stealing, mowing down 11 opponents on the base path.

The Jayhawks are set to return 11 freshmen from the 2024 season and have a large recruiting class coming in, making the goal for 2025 to earn a postseason bid something they missed out on by just one spot this year.
