Jayhawks' Win Streak Snapped by Genesee

SALAMANCA, NY - Jamestown Community College was its own worst enemy for most of Sunday afternoon as they dropped a pair of games to Genesee Community College 3-1 and 16-5, snapping the Jayhawks' six-game winning streak in the process.

JCC jumped out to an early lead in game one, scoring on an RBI sac fly from Tim Beimel, bringing in Harley Hoag to make it 1-0 Jamestown. It looked like the Jayhawks were going to keep that lead leaving the 2nd before an error allowed GCC to plate a pair and take a 2-1 advantage. A pair of double plays in the 2nd and 6th ended any rally for JCC as they trailed 2-1 going to the 7th when Genesee added another run before winning 3-1.

In game two, Jamestown fell into an early 2-0 hole, with Genesee scoring twice in the first frame. JCC quickly tied things up at 2-2 on a two-run double for Harley Hoag. Things fell apart for the Jayhawks in the 2nd. A couple of walks and some mistakes saw GCC put up a five-spot to take a commanding 7-2 edge. Jamestown couldn't snap out of that funk, scoring just one more run on an RBI from Hayden Hoag, but Genesee scored nine more runs to drop the Jayhawks 16-5.

JCC looks to bounce back on Tuesday when they host Tompkins Cortland Community College, with a 2:00 PM first pitch.
