Jayhawk Pitching Swats Broome Hornets

JAMESTOWN, NY - Jamestown Community College baseball put up a pair of shutouts against the SUNY Broome Hornets on a chilly spring afternoon at Diethrick Park.

The Jayhawks took home game one 7-0 behind the right arm of De'Sean Rogers. The sophomore threw a seven-inning complete game with three strikeouts. He received help from the plate early and often. In the 1st, Mitchell McKinney drove in a run with a sac fly to right to make it 1-0 JCC. Jamestown would plate three more in the 3rd, most of the damage on a two-RBI double from Tim Beimel. The 4-0 advantage swelled to 7-0 in the 4th, with Rogers, Timothy Johnson, and McKinney all crossing the plate. That was all the scoring in the first half of the twin bill, with JCC securing the seven-run victory.

It was more of the same on the hill in game two. Dylan Kinney, a freshman for the Jayhawks, tossed his own seven-inning complete game shutout in a 4-0 win. JCC took the lead in the 1st off of an RBI from McKinney, who knocked in Johnson for the game's first run. JCC added to it in the 2nd after Lucas Marsh tripled, and Bradley Babcock drove him home for a 2-0 edge. Jamestown would score a run in the 4th and 6th, with Jax Arcuri earning an RBI, and Marsh later scored for the 4-0 final.

JCC continues its torrid schedule back at home on Tuesday at 2:00 PM when they host Corning Community College in a doubleheader that was rescheduled from April 14th.
