JAMESTOWN - Looking to get right while at home, the Jamestown Community College baseball team split a pair with Finger Lakes Community College Tuesday afternoon.

Game 1: Jamestown Community College 0 - Finger Lakes Community College 4

The two teams were deadlocked through three innings with neither team able to find any offense. In the second inning, sophomore right fielder Billy Harmon (Racine, OH/Southern Local) had a single to center field, trying to find some offense for JCC. Harmon put himself in scoring position, stealing second. In their next two at bats, JCC flew out to right and center field, stranding Harmon.

The Lakers got their first three runs in the third to take a 3-0 lead. Looking to answer, redshirt-freshman Yordangel Gonzalez (Miami, FL/Miami Jackson Senior HS) got things started with a double to left field. Gonzalez advanced to third with an error by the Lakers. Gonzalez was stranded at third with a pop fly in foul territory and a line drive out.

The Lakers added another run in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach.

The Jayhawks had five hits in the game with Harmon leading the way with two hits.

Redshirt-freshman Bryce Jackson (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) earned the loss on the mound, giving up four earned runs and striking out 10 batters in five innings of action. Sophomore pitcher Chris Calladine (Andover, NY/Andover Centers Look School) and freshman pitcher Bryan Gardner (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) each pitched an inning apiece, each striking out one batter.

Game 2: Jamestown Community College 7 - Finger Lakes Community College 3

The Jayhawks (6-9, 4-4 Region 3 West) found their offense in the second game, scoring seven unanswered runs in the first three innings. Sophomore designated hitter Nick Rini (Powhatan, VA/Knock HS) got the scoring going early, hitting a two-run double on a line drive to center field, bringing home freshman shortstop Ethan Abegg (Commerce City, CO/Prarie View HS) and sophomore right fielder Wyatt Hennessy (Mukwongago, WI/Mukwonago HS).

Sophomore third baseman Roberto Aracena (Miami, FL/Citi Christain Academy) scored the last two runs of the inning, hitting a two-run single on a line drive to left field as Rini and Harmon came around to score.

In the second Abegg scored on a pass ball to make it 5-0 in favor of the Jayhawks. Later in the inning, Rini showed his wheels, stealing home to make it 6-0.

JCC scored their final run of the game as Hennessy flew out to center field on a sac fly, driving in freshman center fielder Ayden Reagle (Jamestown, NY/Maple Grove HS).

The Lakers would make a push late, scoring three runs over the fourth and fifth innings.

Abegg was masteful at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two runs. Rini was also effective at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two runs and drawing two walks.

Sophomore pitcher Adonis Collado (Perth Amboy, NY/Perth Amboy HS) went the distance on the bump, giving up three earned runs while striking out eight batters.

The Jayhawks will hit the road this Thursday, April 22nd, as they travel to FLCC for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
