ROCHESTER - Traveling east to take on Division II No. 23 Monroe Community College, the Jamestown Community College baseball team took the Tribunes to their limits but would drop both games.

Game 1: Jamestown Community College 1 - No. 23 Monroe Community College 3

The Jayhawks (5-6, 1-5 WNYAC) fell down in the second inning with the Tribunes taking the early 1-0 lead. JCC started to find some offense in the top of the fourth inning as sophomore third baseman Roberto Aracena (Miami, FL/Citi Christian Academy) got hit by a pitch, placing him at first. Sophomore designated hitter Nick Rini (Powhatan, VA/Knock HS) got a single soon after, moving Aracena to third. Aracena then scored the lone run, crossing home as the Tribunes had a passed ball.

MCC drove in a few insurance runs in the bottom of the fourth to secure the victory.

Rini, along with freshman shortstop Ethan Abegg (Commerce City, CO/Prarie View HS), each had a pair of hits during the game with freshman center fielder Ayden Reagle (Jamestown, NY/Maple Grove HS) added a double.

Redshirt-freshman Bryce Jackson (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) earned the loss on the bump, pitching four innings while giving up three runs. Jackson also added three strikeouts.

Sophomore pitcher Adonis Collado (Perth Amboy, NY/Perth Amboy HS) went the rest of the way, giving up one hit and getting two strikeouts.

Game 2: Jamestown Community College 9 - No. 23 Monroe Community College 16

The Tribune jumped out to a quick 6-0 after the first inning but the Jayhawks responded with two runs scored in the second. Aracena got the inning going with a triple. Sophomore catcher Lucas Porpiglia (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS) got on base himself, being hit by pitch. Redshirt-freshman Yordangel Gonzalez (Miami, FL/Miami Jackson Senior HS) drove in Aracena on a sac fly to left field. Sophomore right fielder Wyatt Hennessy (Mukwonago, WI/Mukwonago HS) drove in Porpiglia as he hit a triple, his first of three triples in the game.

MCC scored two more runs of their own, going up 8-2 after three innings of action. In the fourth, Rini reached by being walked to start the inning. After stealing second, Porpiglia singled, advancing Rini to third. Rini came home after a wild pitch. Hennessy added another rbi, driving in Porpiglia on a triple. Reagle drove in the final run of the inning, hitting a single to drive in Hennessy.

Only giving up a run in the bottom of the fourth, the Jayhawks scored two runs in the fifth, making it 9-7. With two outs and runners on first and second, Hennessy continued to be the bat, hitting a two-run triple as Gonzalez and Porpiglia scored.

The Tribunes tacked on insurance runs, scoring seven runs over the next two innings.

The Jayhawks tried to rally in the seventh with Aracena hitting a double to start things off. Porpiglia drove in Aracena with a single with the final run coming as Hennessy hit a double to bring Porpiglia home.

JCC went to the bullpen early and often, having four pitchers get time on the mound. Collado earned the loss, going one inning while giving up six runs. Sophomore pitcher Chris Calladine (Andover, NY/Andover Centers Look School) would go the next 4.1 innings, giving up seven runs while getting three strikeouts. Freshman pitcher Bryan Gardner (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) and Hennessy closed the game out for the Jayhawks.
