Jayhawks dominate POD Play

The JCC Jayhawks Women's Volleyball team (9-5) went on the road to Erie Community College for POD tournament play.  Their first opponent was the Vikings of Hudson Valley Community College (2-5).  The first saw the Jayhawks offense run like clockwork as they won soundly 25-10.  The second set saw the Jayhawks momentum continue to build as they dominated the set 25-7.  The third set saw the Vikings gain some ground on their own but the Jayhawks had momentum on their side and won 25-15 to win the match over the Vikings 3-0.  The Jayhawks offense was led by #9 SallyAnne Rudny (Jamestown) who had 12 kills, 4 aces, and 4 digs; #10 Madison Alexander (Jamestown) had 6 kills, 9 aces, and 7 digs; #7 Miranda Gross (Little Valley) had 25 assists and 4 digs; #2 Destiney Portlow (Olean) had 5 kills and 7 blocks; #4 Ashley Butman (Jamestown) had 5 aces and 4 digs; and #8 Erin Butman (Jamestown) had 3 kills.

The Jayhawks (10-5) second opponent at the ECC POD tournament was the Saints of North Country Community College (0-7).  The first set had the momentum from the last game still engrained in the players as they dominated the first set 25-4.  The second set saw the Jayhawks offense continue to play aggressively and make the most of the opportunities winning soundly 25-3.  The third set saw the Jayhawks not lift their foot off of the accelerator as they dominated the set yet again 25-4 to win the match over the Saints 3-0.  The Jayhawks were led by #9 SallyAnne Rudny (Jamestown) who had 8 kills and 17 aces; #2 Destiney Portlow (Olean) had 7 kills; #7 Miranda Gross (Little Valley) had 21 assists and 12 aces; #10 Madison Alexander (Jamestown) had 5 kills; #12 Elizabeth Swoger (Ripley) had 4 kills; and #3 Kaitlyn Hoth (Cherry Creek) had 4 aces.

The Jayhawks (11-5) third opponent at the ECC POD tournament was the Timberwolves of SUNY Adirondack College.  The first set seemed to go the way the pervious two games had gone, with the Jayhawks winning quickly 25-11.  However, the second set was the Timberwolves give the Jayhawks a run for their money putting 18 points on the Jayhawks in a losing effort 25-18.  The Jayhawks did not waiver or lose the momentum they had built all day and downed the Timberwolves 25-16 in the third set to give the Jayhawks the 3-0 win.  The Jayhawks offense were led by #9 SallyAnne Rudny (Jamestown)27 kills and 12 digs; #10 Madison Alexander (Jamestown) 10 kills and 5 digs; #2 Destiney Portlow (Olean) 7 kills; #7 Miranda Gross (Little Valley) 41 assists, 4 aces, and 3 digs; #4 Ashley Butman (Jamestown) 4 aces and 15 digs; and #3 Kaitlyn Hoth (Cherry Creek) 3 digs.
