Jayhawks offense catches fire

The JCC Jayhawks Women's Soccer team (3-3) hosted the Spartans of Cayuga Community College (1-4).  The first half saw the Jayhawks offense keeping the pressure on the Spartans defense in what eventually erupted into a scoring spree by the Jayhawks, with 4 goals scored in 15 minutes.  The first goal was by #1 Savannah Rivera (Pomphret), assisted by #8 Kelly Keefe (Jamestown).  The next goal was scored by #6 Courtney Hewes (Ashville) and assisted by #42 Kaley Capizzi (Jamestown).  The third goal was scored again by #6 Hewes (Ashville) and assisted by #8 Keefe (Jamestown).  The fourth goal was scored by #4 Madison McLachlan (Australia) and assisted by #19 Casey Ryan (Manhattan).  The Spartans scored before the half ended to leave the halftime score 4-1 in favor of the Jayhawks.

The second half saw the Jayhawks offense continue to dominate the Spartans defense as during a 22 minute span the Jayhawks scored 6 goals (roughly every 3.6 minutes).  The Jayhawks got on the board again with a goal by #8 Kelly Keefe (Jamestown), assisted by #6 Courtney Hewes (Ashville).  The second goal was by #4 Madison McLachlan (Australia) and assisted by #6 Hewes (Ashville).  The third goal unassisted and scored by #42 Kaley Capizzi (Jamestown).  The fourth goal was unassisted as well and scored by #15 Caylee Shelters (Jamestown).  The fifth goal was scored by #17 Alicia Guichard (Cassadaga) and assisted by #19 Casey Ryan (Manhattan).  The sixth and final goal of the second half was an unassisted goal by #9 Tayler Morrison (Dundee) to give the Jayhawks a 10-1 win over the Spartans.  The Jayhawks defense was led by #13 Kashauna Learn (Salamanca) who had 2 saves while facing 3 shots on goal.
