Jayhawks Soar in Regional Cross Country; Earn Post Season Accolades

HERKIMER, NY - The cold temps couldn't extinguish a pair of brilliant runs by the Jamestown Community College (JCC) cross-country teams as they took part in the regional championships in Herkimer on Saturday.

Starting with the ladies, Arryanna Bardo placed 6th out of 25, running a 25:30 in the 5k. The sophomore cut almost two minutes from her time on the same course as a month ago. Bardo's 6th-place finish awarded her all-region honors for being in the top ten of the event. "Arryanna's improvements over the season have been remarkable. From just starting in the sport of cross country a little over a month ago to now receiving all-region honors is beyond impressive and is a testament to her hard work and talent," said head coach Darion Gregory.

In the men's race, Carson Dunn ran the 8k in 32:08 and placed 14th out of 43. This is a 20-second PR on the hardest course the Jayhawks run. Dunn also had a five-minute improvement from the time he ran on the same course as a month ago. "Carson ran a very smart and tactical race today. He finished ahead of several runners that have routinely beaten us all season," added Gregory.

"Today, to my knowledge, Carson had the best regional place finish in JCC history, and Arryanna ran the fastest regional time in JCC history," mentioned Gregory.

Bardo and Dunn both earned All-Conference recognition for finishing inside the five in their respective divisions.

Bardo also claimed a spot at nationals with her strong performance in the regional championship.
