Jayhawks Stay Undefeated in Region Play with 3-0 Win

JAMESTOWN, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) men's soccer team moved to a perfect 3-0 in Region 3 play, with a 3-0 home win over North Country Community College on Saturday afternoon.

It was a tight affair through the first 30 minutes, with both teams struggling to establish their offensive game. That was before the Jayhawks started to pepper the net, shooting 18 shots in the games.

JCC broke the 0-0 tie when Ethyn Gilbert settled a beautiful pass from Casimiro Espeso Gayte in front of the net; from there the sophomore did the rest to drive home the first goal of the game for a 1-0 Jamestown advantage.

The Jayhawks quickly doubled the lead off of a Shane Bennett throw-in, where Adam Doyle took the pass and didn't mess around before potting his first of the year to make it 2-0 for JCC.

That score held deep into the second half. North Country had their best chance to cut into the deficit in the 77th minute, but Jamestown's Christoforos Theokli was up to the task, making a saving stop to keep the clean sheet.

In the 87th minute, Braiden Govan scored his fifth of the young season to give JCC some insurance in the 3-0 win.

The Jayhawks are back home on Wednesday, September 3rd, at 2:00 PM, when they welcome Erie Community College to the nest.
