Slow start derails the Jayhawks

The JCC Jayhawks Men's Soccer Team (1-5-2) hosted the Spartans of Cayuga Community College (4-1).  The Jayhawks offense could not get in rhythm early in the first half of play and their defense was caught out of position on numerous occasions as the Spartans scored 3 goals in the first 15 minutes of play.  The Jayhawks made a change in goal and several substitutions to settle things down and match up better with the Spartans offense.  The first half came to a close 3-0 in favor of the Spartans.

The Jayhawks returned for the second half with more energy and began to attack the Spartans goal which resulted in a goal by #10 Raymond Amborski (Westfield), assisted by #11 Christian Fuentes (Brocton).  The lead was cut to 3-1 but this was short lived as the Spartans offense was still finding the cracks in the Jayhawks defense scoring two more goals to take a 5-1 lead.  The Jayhawks found the Spartans net again with a goal by #7 Tate Reynolds (Salamanca), assisted by #6 Hamish Antil (Australia) to cut the lead 5-2.  The Spartans again scored to build the lead to 6-2.  But the Jayhawks die hard and scored a goal of their own with less than a minute to play to make the final 6-3 in favor of the Spartans.  The Jayhawks defense was led by goalie #1 Adriano DeRossi (Austalia) who had 5 saves while facing 8 shots on goal.
