SANBORN – Continuing to stay hot, the Jamestown Community College volleyball team swept Niagara county Community College, 3-0 Tuesday evening.
The Jayhawks (4-5, 2-0 WNYAC) came out of the game firing, winning the first set 25-8. The Thunderwolves rallied in the second half, pushing JCC to the limit before falling 25-23. The Jayhawks finished out the match with a 25-16 win in the third set to cap the night.
On the offensive attack, freshman middle hitter Claire Pumford (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) led the way with 13 kills with freshman outside hitter Megan Cotter (Jamestown, NY/Southwestern High) adding nine kills on the night. Cotter also took advantage on the serves, finishing with five service aces.
Freshman setter Madison Johnson (Panama, NY/Panama Central) had another stellar game, coming away with 31 assists.
Four Jayhawks finished with double-digit digs on the evening with freshman outside hitter Maggie McClelland (Olean, NY/Olean HS) leading the way with 14 digs.
The Jayhawks will be back in action this Saturday, September 25th, as they travel to Cayuga Community College for a non-conference matchup at 11 a.m.
