Jayhawks advance to the Region III Championship match

NIAGARA – The Jamestown Community College volleyball team is one win away from yet another Region III Championship.

 

The Jayhawks (25-5) went a perfect 3-0 on the day, defeating Genesee Community College, Finger Lakes Community College and Jefferson Community College. JCC went 9-2 in set scores.

 

JCC defeated the Cougars in set scores of 25-20, 25-13 and 27-25. Jenna Caskey had a monster game for the Jayhawks, finishing with 13 kills and 12 digs. Karleigh Haines added 11 kills while Alexys Marsh chipped in with five kills. Russo had a great match controlling the offense, finishing with 39 assists. Marsh was able to slow down the GCC offense as she had two blocks. Cameryn Hawkins had 15 digs respectively.

 

After their first win, they fell in the first set to the Lakers, 23-25. The Jayhawks came back to win the next two sets, 25-13 and 25-19. Haines led the way with 13 kills while Caskey added 10 kills. Jennah Starkweather chipped in with seven kills, respectively. Russo added 33 more assists as she facilitated the offense. On the defensive side, Hawkins had a team high 16 digs while Caskey adding 10 digs. Marsh Continued to be a force at the net on defense, coming away with four blocks.

 

In the last match of the day, JCC was able to take two sets from the Cannoneers by set scores of 25-23, 25-19 and falling the final set, 19-25. Caskey finished the day with 16 kills while Haines finished with 12 kills. Marsh chipped in with eight kills as well. Russo added 36 more assists the close out the day. Caskey also had a team high 15 digs while Hawkins adding 11 digs.

 

The Jayhawks will face SUNT Broome Community College tomorrow, November 3rd, for the Region III Championship held at Niagara County Community College.
