Jayhawks go undefeated in Region III pod action

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – The Jamestown Community College volleyball continues their dominate play, going undefeated in Region III pod action.

 

The Jayhawks (22-4, 4-0 WNYAC) went a combined 9-1 in sets in pod action, defeating Jefferson Community College, Cayuga Community College and Onondaga Community College. JCC's lone set loss came against Jefferson as they won the first set, 21-25. The Jayhawks were able to rattle off three straight sets, finishing out the match 25-21, 25-10 and an exciting 27-25 win. Karleigh Haines led the attack with 19 kills while Jenna Caskey had 13. Alexys Marsh added nine kills, respectively. Maddy Russo was key in facilitating the Jayhawks offense, coming away with 43 assists. The backcourt of JCC played out of its mind, coming away with 83 digs with Cameryn Hawkins leading the way.

 

In the second match of the day, JCC was able to defeat Cayuga Community College with set scores of 25-8, 25-18 and 25-11. The offense was paced by Caskey with 12 kills with Marsh having 10 kills. Haines was able to add nine kills. Russo did well in commanding the offense, having 32 assists. Emma Wirsen and Hawkins had a team-high nine digs in the match with Caskey coming away with eight digs.

 

The Jayhawks was able to end the day out strong, defeating Onondaga Community College by set scores of 25-15, 25-11 and 25-20. Haines ended out her day with 17 more kills with Caskey adding another 11 kills. Russo added 36 assists to come away with 111 assists on the day. Caskey led the defense with 15 digs with Wirsen adding 11.

 

The Jayhawks wrap-up the regular season this Tuesday at Erie Community College at 6 p.m.
