Jayhawks battle hard in Region III Semifinal Loss

The JCC Jayhawks Women's Volleyball Team (29-7) traveled to Niagara County Community College to take place in Region III Division III semifinal playoff as the #2 seed.  Having lost the night before to Jefferson Community College, the Jayhawks looked to keep their chances alive for the Region III Division III finals as they took on the Raiders of Fulton Montgomery Community College (28-1).  The Jayhawks had their 22 game win streak snapped the night before and the Raiders brought in an impressive 23 game win streak to the match.  With two evenly matched teams, the games would be closely contested.  The Jayhawks took the first set 25-22.  The second set was back and forth with the set going into extra scoring as the Raiders prevailed 27-25.  The third set had momentum building for the Raiders as they won 25-21.  With their backs against the wall, the Jayhawks were able to take a lead early in the fourth set, but the Raiders were able to rally and win 25-20, downing the Jayhawks 3-1, and ending the Jayhawks season.  The Jayhawks were led by #9 SallyAnne Rudny (Jamestown) who had 26 kills and 12 digs; #10 Madison Alexander (Jamestown) had 8 kills and 19 digs; #8 Erin Butman (Jamestown) had 5 kills; #7 Miranda Gross (Little Valley) had 39 assists, 3 aces, and 4 digs; #2 Destiney Portlow (Olean) had 3 kills and 4 blocks; #4 Ashley Butman (Jamestown) had 4 aces and 14 digs; and #3 Kaitlyn Hoth (Cherry Creek) had 12 digs.

#9 SallyAnne Rudny (Jamestown) and #4 Ashley Butman (Jamestown) were named to the NJCAA Region III Division III ALL-TOURNAMENT Team.
