Jayhawks earn WNYAC Title, #2 seed in Regionals, and 20th win in a row

The JCC Jayhawks Women's Volleyball Team (25-5) traveled to Erie Community College to take place in the WNYAC Tournament.  Their first opponent was the Thunderwolves of North County Community College (7-14).  The Jayhawks have not lost since early September and looked to keep their momentum.  The first set saw the Jayhawks dominate winning 25-11.  The second set had the Thunderwolves play the Jayhawks closer, but the Jayhawks remained focus and won the set 25-14, to win the match over the Thunderwolves 2-0.  The Jayhawks were led by #9 SallyAnne Rudny (Jamestown) who had 10 kills and 3 digs; #10 Madison Alexander (Jamestown) had 5 kills and 3 aces; #8 Erin Butman (Jamestown) had 4 kills; #7 Miranda Gross (Little Valley) had 16 assists and 3 digs; and #4 Ashley Butman (Jamestown) had 7 digs.

The Jayhawks (26-5) second opponent in the WNYAC Tournament was the Tribunes of Monroe Community College (18-14).  In recent years, this matchup would often determine who would represent the region in the Nationals as more times than not these were the two best teams.  This matchup would be no different and bring the best out of both teams.  The first set was close, but the Jayhawks prevailed 25-20.  The Second set would be a repeat of the first, with the Jayhawks holding on to win 25-20 to defeat the Tribunes 2-0.  The Jayhawks were led by #9 SallyAnne Rudny (Jamestown) who had 15 kills and 5 digs; #10 Madison Alexander (Jamestown) had 7 kills and 8 digs; #7 Miranda Gross (Little Valley) had 24 assists and 7 digs; #2 Destiney Portlow (Olean) had 4 kills; #4 Ashley Butman (Jamestown) had 8 digs and 3 aces; and #3 Kaitlyn Hoth (Cherry Creek) had 6 digs. 

The Jayhawks (27-5) final opponent of the WNYAC Tournament was the Saints of Mercyhurst North East University (8-17).  The Jayhawks looked to win their 20th game in a row and win the tournament in the process.  The Jayhawks won the first set soundly 25-16 and kept their focus which led to them winning the second set 25-15 to win the match 2-0 over the Saints.  The Jayhawks were led by #9 SallyAnne Rudny (Jamestown) who had 11 kills and 11 digs; #10 Madison Alexander (Jamestown) had 9 kills and 10 digs; #2 Destiney Portlow (Olean) had 6 kills; #7 Miranda Gross (Little Valley) had 28 assists; #8 Erin Butman (Jamestown) had 5 kills; #4 Ashley Butman (Jamestown) had 14 digs; and #3 Kaitlyn Hoth (Cherry Creek) had 5 digs.  

With their 20th win in a row, the Jayhawks secured the #2 seed at the Region 3, Division III tournament.
