The JCC Jayhawks women's volleyball team (NJCAA Div III, 12-3) faced off against the Tribunes of Monroe Community College (NJCAA Div III, 17-0) in the first match of a POD Tournament hosted by Genesee Community College. The Jayhawks brought a 10 game win streak with them while the Tribunes came in undefeated. The Jayhawks momentum helped to take the first set 25-18. However, the Tribunes made the right adjustments and stymied the Jayhawks the rest of the afternoon winning the next 3 sets with more and more dominance (25-18, 25-17, and 25-12), snapping the Jayhawks win streak with a 3-1 victory. The Jayhawks were led by #2 Destiney Portlow 's (Olean) 7 kills; #4 Ashley Butman 's (Jamestown) 12 digs; #5 Carly Abbate 's (Ashville) 27 assists and 6 digs; #7 Dannon Pischera 's (Falconer) 21 digs; #9 Hannah Vezina 's (Lakewood) 7 kills and 4 blocks; and by #10 Madison Alexander 's (Jamestown) 11 kills and 6 digs.
