Yuchnitz Sets New Records as the Jayhawks Go 2-1 at the ECC Quad-Meet

BUFFALO - In their regular-season finale, the Jamestown Community College women's swimming & diving team went 2-1 on the day at the ECC Quad-Meet.

 

The Jayhawks (6-1, 5-0 WNYAC) got wins against Erie Community College, 119-49, and against NCAA Division III Medaille College, 147-18. The Jayhawks lone loss came against NCAA Division II Roberts Wesleyan College, 166-64.

 

Karianne Yuchnitz (Panama, NY/Panama Central) continues to break her own records, posting times of 24.80 in the 50 yard freestyle and 55.38 in the 100 yard freestyle. Yuchnitz exceeded the times she posted two weeks ago against Genesee Community College.

 

Tia Moppert (Gowanda, NY/Gowanda Central) had a career-day in the pool, posting personal bests in three events competed in. Moppert posted times of 1:12.32 in the 100 yard backstroke, 1:00.89 in the 100 yard freestyle, and 2:40.29 in the 200 yard IM.

 

Lillian Baer (Jamestwon, NY/Maple Grove HS) set new personal bests in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:24.93) and the 200 yard breaststroke (3:04.39).

 

Anna Burt (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) also set new personal bests in the 100 yard backstroke (1:13.36) and the 200 yard backstroke (2:43.84).

 

Alyssa Hanesworth (Randolph, NY/Randolph HS) continues to show improvement on the season, posting personal bests in the 50 yard freestyle (32.04) and the 100 yard freestyle (1:12.64).

 

The team of Burt, Baer, Moppert, and Yuchnitz also set a new record in the 400 yard Medley Relay, posting a time of 4:44.77. The team broke the record that was previously set this past Monday against ECC.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action next Saturday, April 10th, as they compete in the NJCAA Region 3 Swimming & Diving Championships.
