Jayhawks defense struggles

The JCC Jayhawks Women's Soccer team (3-7) hosted the Hornets of Tompkins Courtland Community College (10-1).  The Hornets had won 10 out of their 11 games this season and looked to be in control early as they put two goals in the net with a little over 5 minutes played as the Jayhawks defense failed to slow them down.  As the Jayhawks defense settled, it allowed for a little momentum shift which resulted in a goal by #4 Madison McLachlan (Australia), assisted by #6 Courtney Hewes (Ashville) to cut the Hornets lead to 2-1.  The close score was ended by the Hornets a little over six minutes later and the Hornets put in another goal with less than a minute in the half to take a 4-1 lead.  The second half was not better for the Jayhawks as they did not find a way to slow down the Hornets offensive pressure which resulted in 4 more goals in the second half as the Hornets downed the Jayhawks 8-1.  The Jayhawks defense was led by #0 Rebecca Butcher (South Dayton) who had 13 saves while facing 21 shots on goal.
