Jayhawks lose in overtime

The JCC Jayhawks Women's Soccer team (3-6) went on the road to face the Panthers of Tompkins Cortland Community College (4-5).  The Panthers got on the board quickly with a goal just three minutes into the game to take a 1-0 lead.  With less than five minutes remaining in the first half, the Jayhawks got on the board with an unassisted goal by #6 Courtney Hewes (Ashville) to tie the game 1-1.  The second half had a defensive battle where neither team scored a goal and the game went into overtime.  With time running out in overtime, the Jayhawks were penalized and the Panthers earned a free kick which they took advantage of, and scored the game winning goal to down the Jayhawks 2-1.  The Jayhawks defense was led by #0 Rebecca Butcher (South Dayton) who had 5 saves while facing 7 shots on goal.
