Jayhawks pull away in the second half

The JCC Jayhawks Women's Soccer team (2-3) went on the road to face the Saints of Mercyhurst North East University (1-4).  The Jayhawks got on the board quickly with a goal from #9 Tayler Morrison (Dundee), assisted by #8 Kelly Keefe (Jamestown), to put the Jayhawks up 1-0.  The celebration was short lived as the Saints answered back a little more than a minute later to tie the game 1-1.  The Jayhawks scored again, and once again it was #9 Tayler Morrion, assisted this time by #13 Kashauna Learn (Salamanca) to give the Jayhawks the 2-1 advantage.

The score stayed that way for the first half and continued into a second half that saw the scoring opportunities begin to dwindle.  But then late in the second half, the Jayhawks offense began to attack.  A goal was scored by #8 Kelly Keefe (Jamestown), assisted by #1 Savannah Rivera (Pomphret) to give the Jayhawks the 3-1 advantage.  Five minutes went by and then the Jayhawks scored again with #6 Courtney Hewes (Ashville) putting it in, with another assist going to #1 Savannah Rivera.  For the third time in under ten minutes, the Jayhawks found the net again with #9 Tayler Morrison (Dundee) scoring her third goal of the afternoon, assisted by #6 Courtney Hewes.  This would be all the scoring on this day, with the Jayhawks downing the Saints 5-1.  The Jayhawks defense was led by goalie #13 Kashauna Learn (Salamanca) who had 9 saves while facing 10 shots on goal.
