No. 19 Jayhawks to compete at the Waynesburg Invitational on Saturday

JAMESTOWN - With the 2019 portion of the season in the rearview, the No. 19 Jamestown Community College wrestling team will look to build upon their success in the 2020 portion.

The Jayhawks (2-7) will start the 2020 portion of their season this Saturday at the Waynesburg Invitational. The invitational will be comprised of 16 teams that includes teams from NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, USCAA and NJCAA.

Jamestown finished the 2019 portion of the season at No. 9 Niagara County Community College where they fell 27-18. JCC got wins from Colten Studley (141), Joey Perry (149), Dan Torres (174) and Max Wills (hwt.).

Torres, who is currently ranked third in his respectively weight class according to the most recent intermat rankings, has been consistent for the Jayhawks, placing in three invitational/opens with Taige Jones (141), Otto Davidson (141), Jacob Smith (hwt.) and Studley have all place once at an invitational/open.

After the Waynesburg Invitational, JCC will be off until January 15th when they travel to Mercyhurst North East. Jamestown fell to the Saints earlier this season, 35-11.

Action tomorrow at the Waynesburg Invitational will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the 125 pound - 157 pound weight classes will take place at the main gym and the 165 pound - 285 pound weight classes will take place at the Auxiliary gym.
