Jayhawks to face No. 7 NCCC Saturday; Host JCC Open on Sunday

JAMESTOWN – This weekend will be nothing but business for the No. 13 Jamestown Community College wrestling team.

On Saturday, Jamestown will be tested as they welcome No. 7 Niagara County Community College. On Saturday, Jamestown will host the Jamestown Community College Open, sponsored by Lynn Development Group.

The Jayhawks (4-8) will look to avenge and early season 27-18 loss against the Thunderwolves. In the match, Jamestown picked up four wins in the dual, powered behind No. 1 Dan Torres (174).

Since the teams met last, JCC has gone 2-1 in dual action while finishing 12th at the Waynesburg Invitational. During that stretch, Torres has been a driving factor in the Jayhawks success, having a combined record of 7-0 including a 4-0 record at the Waynesburg Invitational, picking up the first-place prize in the 174-pound weight class.

The Thunderwolves have posted an 7-3 record on the season and have most recently finished fourth at the NWCA National Duals. NCCC will rely on No. 7 Jacob Bell (125), No. 3 Frankie Gissendanner (149), No. 8 Christian Robinson, No. 1 Jordan Bushey and No. 10 Devin Vanlengen to bring home a win.

On Sunday, the Jayhawks will compete against opponents from NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and the NJCAA at the Jamestown Community College Open.

The Jayhawks dual against NCCC on Saturday will start at 5 p.m. on Saturday with the JCC Open starting at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. Action will take place at the Physical Education Complex.
