Jayhawks look to take down the Saints Wednesday evening

JAMESTOWN - Looking to continue their hot start of the 2020 portion of their season, the No. 13 Jamestown Community College wrestling team will take on Mercyhurst North East this Wednesday.

The Jayhawks (2-7) will look to avenge a 35-11 loss from earlier in the season. Dan Torres (174) and Paul Tripi (184) got the wins for Jamestown. Torres picked up a 15-0 tech fall over Demitrius Smith to get JCC?s first points of the dual. Tripi continued their momentum, getting the fall over Matthew Hammond, needing 2:31 to do so.

So far in 2020, the Jayhawks have competed at the Waynesburg Invitational hosted by Waynesburg University. There, the team competed against talent from NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, USCAA and NJCAA. Jamestown finished in 12th place, scoring 35 points.

Torres finished first in the 174 pound class, going 4-0 on the day with one fall. All four opponents were from NCAA DIII schools. Cody Pool (125) finished fourth in his respective weight class, going 2-2 on the day. Pool?s wins came over Division II and Division III schools from the NCAA ranks.

JCC will hit the mats tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. at the Liguori Fieldhouse.
