Jayhawks place two at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational

WASHINGTON, Pa. – Jamestown Community College places two wrestlers at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational Saturday afternoon.

 

Dan Torres (174) placed second in his weight division, falling to Hadyn Swartwood of Lycoming. In his first match, Torres defeated Brandon Miller of Penn. St. Behrend by a 10-2 major decision. Torres went on to wrestle Alec Home of Washington and Lee, winning via 8-2 decision. With the momentum, Torres got the fall over Nico Ziccardi of Stevens Tech, needing 2:15 to do so. Torres had a tough semifinals match, facing off against Jeremiah Slagle of Heidelberg. Torres was able to escape with a 7-6 win.

 

Jacob Smith (hwt.) was the other Jayhawks that placed, finishing in sixth-place. Smith fell in his first match by a 15-3 major decision against Kyle Beard of Washington and Jefferson. In his next match, Smith got the fall over Shaquan Bagot of Pitt-Bradford in 1:50. Smith fell in his next match by fall against Warren Russell of Lycoming. In the sixth-place match, Smith wrestled Clay Schafer of Kent State Tuscarawas. Schafter was able to get the pin.

 

Colten Studley (149) picked up two wins on the day while Kason Smeltzer (125), Joey Perry (141) and Max Wills (hwt.) each had one win on the day.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action this Friday, November 15th, as they travel to Theil College at 8 p.m.
