Wrestling to hit the road for the Ithaca Duals on Saturday

JAMESTOWN - Coming off a strong showing at the Thunderwolves Open, the Jamestown Community College wrestling team will look to continue their success tomorrow afternoon at the Ithaca Duals.

The Jayhawks (2-4) placed four wrestlers at the Thunderwolves Open with Taige Jones picking up first place in the 141-pound weight class. Jones went 4-0 on the day. Colten placed third in the 141-pound weight class, going 4-1 on the day with one fall. JCC closed out the 141-pound weight class, placing fifth with a 2-2 record.

Dan Torres rounds out the Jayhawk placers, finishing third in the 174-pound weight class. Torres went 4-1 on the day with his lone loss coming against Connor Day of NCAA DII Gannon University.

JCC will first face Oswego State, a team that is coming off the RIT Invitational. The Lakers placed four wrestlers with William Hardin II finishing in second in the 133-pound weight class. The Lakers have yet to compete in a dual this season with their first coming against Ithaca on Saturday.

After their dual with Oswego State, the Jayhawks will face Ithaca College. The Bombers have gone 2-2 on the year. In their most recent action, Ithaca competed at the York Spartan Invitational and placing fifth as a team out of 14 teams. Ithaca had two wrestlers place first in Austin Whitney and Jordan Wallace. Whitney captured the 165-pound weight class crown while Wallace continued his undefeated season with the 174-pound title.

Actions starts at noon with Oswego State and Ithaca facing each other. After their match, JCC will face Oswego State and then Ithaca right after. Duals will be held at the Ben Light Gymnasium.
