No. 13 Jayhawks fall to No. 7 Niagara County at home

JAMESTOWN - In a battle of nationally ranked teams, the No. 13 Jamestown Community College wrestling team fell to No. 7 Niagara County Community College Saturday evening, 41-17.

 

The Jayhawks (4-9) fell behind early in the match, facing a 12-0 deficit after two matches. Taige Jones (149) got the Jayhawks on the board, picking up a 17-2 technical fall in the second period over Matt Gawron. Jones started out of the gates fast, applying pressure on Gawron. Jones wore down Gawron in the first period and finished him off in the second period.

 

After giving up another six points, Seth MacTavish (157) got Jamestown in striking distance of the Thunderwolves, picking up a fall to make it 18-11. MacTavish fell behind in the match early before he flipped the script, getting the pin over Trent Ingraham, need 2:58 to do so.

 

Dan Torres (174) got the last victory for the Jayhawks, getting the win by forfeit.

 

The Jayhawks will be off until Friday, February 14th, as they travel to Alfred to take on Alfred State at 7 p.m.
