SANBORN – In a battle of ranked team, No. 9 Niagara County Community College defeated No. 19 Jamestown Community College 27-18 Wednesday evening.
The Jayhawks (2-7) fell behind early in the dual, as the Thunderwolves picked up a forfeit win in the 133-pound weight class. Colten Studley (141) picked up the decision win, defeating Jacob Mancuso, 11-7. Joey Perry (149) gave Jamestown the lead in the dual, getting a medical forfeit win over Mason Gray to give the Jayhawks a 9-6 lead.
In the next two matches, NCCC was reward a forfeit win in the 157-pound weight class and got the tech. fall in the 165-pound weight class, giving them a 17-9 lead.
Dan Torres (174) got Jamestown back I the scoring column, getting the fall over Trent Ingraham, needing 1:39 to do so. With three matches left in the dual, JCC trailed 17-15 with a chance to get the win.
The Thunderwolves iced the dual in the next two matches, win by forfeit and by a major decision. In the final match of the dual, Max Wills defeated Devin Vanlengan in a 7-6 TB-1 victory.
Before the dual started, Otto Davidson (141) and Taige Jones (141) competed in exhibition matches where they both picked up wins. Davidson got the fall over Matt Gawron, needing 2:39 to get the victory. Jones defeated Mancuso, picking up an 8-0 major decision.
The Jayhawks will be off until January 4th as they compete at the Waynesburg Quad.
