Jayhawks fall to NCAA DII Gannon University at home

JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown Community College wrestling team fell to NCAA DII Gannon University Wednesday night, 34-14.

 

They Jayhawks (1-4) fell behind early in the dual, trailing 10-0 after two matches. Otto Davidson (141) was able to get JCC on the board, winning his match via forfeit. Jamestown was able to carry that momentum over into the next match. Joey Perry (157) battle Brandon Felkins for the full duration of the match, coming away with an 8-4 decision victory. Perry was in control from the start as he wore down Felkins from the jump.

 

The Golden Knights won the next match via major decision. Dan Torres (174) got the Jayhawks back on track, picking up a 22-6 tech. fall over Owen Balas. The two were at a standstill in the early moments of the match before Torres was able to take over.

 

In the final match of the night, Max Wills (HWT.) was bested by Travis Schmelling, falling by a 3-1 decision. Schmelling was able to get a takedown in the finals seconds of the match to help put him over the edge.

 

The Jayhawks will hit the road this weekend as they travel to Niagara County Community College this Friday for a dual. On Saturday, the team will return to NCCC for the NCCC Open.
