Wrestling moves up one spot in latest polls

JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown community College wrestling team has moved up one spot in the latest NJCAA Wrestling Rankings, coming in at No. 12.

 

The Jayhawks (4-9) have gone 2-2 since the latest rankings have come out, picking up a pair of wins at the SUNY Ulster tri-match. In their first match, JCC defeated Union County College in a 30-22 battle. Torres, Colten Studley (149) and Seth MacTavish (157) all had impressive wins, each picking up a fall.

 

In the second match, Jamestown faced host SUNY Ulster County Community College, coming away with a 30-15 victory. Taige Jones (141) and MacTavish had good showings for the Jayhawks, each picking up a fall.

 

Torres has been a constant for the Jayhawks, going 9-0 in action since the last rankings. During his run, Torres has placed first at the JCC Open. Torres has also added four more falls to his record, which is 36-6 on the season.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action next Friday as they travel to Alfred to take on Alfred State at 7 p.m.
