BATAVIA, NY - Jamestown Community College jumped out to an early lead on Genesee Community College and never looked back in a 77-13 win.
The Jayhawks opened the game on an 8-0 run, capped by a bucket from sophomore Angelique Palacio (Tucson, AZ / Desert View HS).
Genesee cuts the deficit in half before another run from the Jamestown, sparked by another sophomore, Chyann Kelly (Bailey, CO / Platte Canyon HS), whose bucket to end the first quarter was two of her 13 on the day and made it a 20-6 contest.
The second 10 minutes saw a dominating performance on the glass by Courtney Martin (Bemus Point, NY / Maple Grove Central) with six points and 14 rebounds.
JCC would go to halftime up 39-8. As dominant as Jamestown was in the opening 20 minutes, the defense was even more suffocating in the second stanza.
The Jayhawks won the second half 38-5, allowing just one field goal each quarter.
Jamestown stayed hot from the field, too, with Keturah Stewart (Bethlehem, PA / Freedom HS) leading the way with a game-high 19 points.
The win moves JCC to 4-7 on the year. The ladies are back in action this weekend for a pair of games in the Cuyahoga Community College Holiday Classic.
