JAMESTOWN - The Jamestown Community College women's basketball team will look to start the 2020 portion of the season fast, hosting Butler County Community College this Wednesday.

The Jayhawks (5-7) are coming off a 64-50 win against Lorain County Community College, snapping a three-game losing streak. In the game, four players scored in double figures with Gabby Iuculano leading the way with 16 points. Courtney Hemminger had a career night on the boards as she grabbed 16 rebounds.

In their last meeting, JCC defeated the Pioneers earlier this season, 71-57 in December. In the game, Iuculano scored a career-high 29 points while adding six assists. Abi Lisciandro added 12 points while Marisa Schuppenhauer chipped in with 10 points. Linnea Jimerson was a monster on the boards, grabbing 14 rebounds.

On the year, Jamestown has scored just over 65 points a game while grabbing 39 rebounds a game. The Jayhawks are shooting 71 percent from the free throw line, good for seventh in the country. Iuculano has led the offense in scoring, dropping 14.8 points per game. Lisciandro and Schuppenhauer are second on the team, scoring eight points per contest. On the defensive side of the ball, Jimerson has grabbed 6.6 rebounds per game with Hemminger grabbing 5.8 rebounds per game. Jesse Zenns has protected the paint for the Jayhawks, blocking 2.3 shots per game.

JCC will face a Butler County team that has posted a 1-12 on the year and will be hungry for a win to start out the 2020 portion of the season. In their last time out, the Pioneers fell to PSU New Kinsington in a 58-52 game.

The Pioneers have averaged 48 points per game while grabbing 37.6 rebounds. The offense is led by Casey Kretzer who has scored 15.8 points per contest with Michaella Roth scoring 12.2 points per game. Alexis Barnhart has taken over the defensive side of the ball, grabbing 9.3 rebounds per game.

The teams will meet this Wednesday at the Physical Education Center at 5 p.m.
