JAMESTOWN – Fresh off a dominating performance, the Jamestown Community College women’s basketball team will look to upset No. 11 Niagara County Community College tomorrow afternoon.
The Jayhawks (9-12, 2-3 WNYAC) are coming off a 74-42 win over Erie Community College, snapping a four game skid. Gabby Iuculano found her offense for Jamestown, dropping 20 points on the day. Kayla Hohl had a great game in her first start of the season, scoring 17 points including four three-pointers. Abi Lisciandro had a great game coming off the bench, scoring 11 points and grabbing a game-high seven rebounds (1 offense, 6 defense).
The last time going against the Thunderwolves, Jamestown fell 84-43. Hohl lead the way on offense, scoring nine points. Linnea Jimerson had a strong day on the boards, grabbing eight rebounds.
In conference action, the Jayhawks are scoring 62.4 points per game, shooting 39.1 percent from the field. Iuculano has been a steady source of offense in conference action, scoring 15 points per game. Hohl has also been a big contributor, scoring 12.6 points per game.
On the glass, the Jayhawks have grabbed 39 rebounds per game in conference action. Jimerson leads the way, grabbing 5.6 rebounds per game with Marisa Schppenhauer and Lisciandro grabbing just over four rebounds per game.
The Jayhawks will face a Thunderwolves team that have a season record 25-1 with a conference record of 5-0. Their last time out, NCCC defeated Butler County Community College 99-53 on Monday night. The Thunderwolves had four players score in double figures with Cierra Harrison leading the way with 24 points. Molly Mahony lead the way on the glass, grabbing 10 rebounds.
In their game earlier in the season against the Jayhawks, five players scored in double figures. Harrison and Paige Embrorsky each had 15 points. Mahony had a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
In conference action, the Thunderwolves have scored 93.4 points per game while shooting 46.4 percent from the field. Four players are averaging double digits in conference play with Harrison scoring 18.2 points per game.
On the boards, NCCC has grabbed 54.8 rebounds per game. Mahony has collected 8.8 rebounds per game with Aubrey Halloran adding seven rebounds per game.
The teams will play at 5:30 p.m. at the Physical Education Complex.
