Four score in double-digits as the Jayhawks roll past the Commodores

JAMESTOWN – Four players were able to score double-digits on the night as the Jamestown Community College women's basketball team cruised past Lorain County Community College, 96-54.

 

The Jayhawks (3-4) came out hot to start the game, knocking down four shots beyond the arc to jump out to a 12-2 lead. Gabby Iuculano and Abi Lisciandro made two threes each with Marisa Schuppenhauer assisting on every made basket.

 

 JCC continued to build their lead late in the first frame, this time with Linnea Jimerson adding a made three to make it 17-6. The Commodores cut the deficit to single-digits with over two minutes left in the first with a three-pointer from Haley Sprouse and two made free throws from Bri Galagher. JCC closed out the quarter with a 23-11 lead.

 

JCC continued to score at will, opening up the second quarter on a 11-0 run. The Jayhawks continued to string together large runs including an 11-5 run to head into halftime with a 47-19 lead.

 

Jamestown should their dominance in the second half, outscoring LCCC 49-35. In the second half, Katelyn Fardink scored 16 of her 18 points including four made baskets from beyond the arc. Iuculano lead all scorers with 21 points with Schuppenhauer adding 13 points. Lisciandro chipped in 12 points, respectively. Schuppenhauer had a well-rounded game for the Jayhawks, adding eight assists, seven steals and five assists on the night. Courtney Hemminger added seven rebounds with Sophie DeMarco adding another six.

 

JCC established their dominance in the paint, outscoring the Commodores 54-22. The Jayhawks also took advantage of the turnovers from LCCC, scoring 27 points to their seven. JCC also showed their depth with 41 points coming from their reserves.

 

The Jayhawks will hit the road this Wednesday, December 4th, as they take on Butler County Community College at 5 p.m. This will be the first of their three game road trip.
