Jayhawks continue their road trip at GCC on Wednesday night

JAMESTOWN – Looking to get back on track, the Jamestown Community College women’s basketball team will travel to Genesee Community College Wednesday evening.

 

The Jayhawks (8-11, 1-2 WNYAC) are coming off an 81-49 loss against Villa Maria College Monday evening in non-conference action. In the game, Gabby Iuculano finished with a team-high 14 points with Linnea Jimerson adding nine points. On the glass, Jimerson and Abi Lisciandro each had seven rebounds.

 

On the season, Jamestown has averaged 64.8 points per game, shooting 36.6 percent from the field. Iuculano is leading the offensive attack, scoring 14.9 points per game. Marisa Schuppenhauer has been another scoring option for the Jayhawks, scoring 8.8 points per contest.

 

On the boards, the Jayhawks average 40.6 rebounds per contest with Jimerson leading the way with 6.6 rebounds per game. Courtney Hemminger and Jesse Zenns have also been strong on the glass, averaging 5.1 rebounds per game.

 

Jamestown will face a Cougars team that have posted a season record of 9-10 including a 2-1 record in the conference. In their previous game, GCC fell to Niagara County Community College, 101-57. Alayah Sweeney recorded a double-double on the afternoon, scoring 19 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Tylasia added 11 points in the game.

 

The Cougars average 65.6 points per contest while shooting 35.1 percent from the floor. Sweeney has led all Cougars, scoring 22.9 points per game while Erina Ishiguro averages 13.4 points per contest.

 

On the glass, GCC has averaged 47.4 rebounds per game. Sweeney rounds out her double-double average, grabbing 11.6 rebounds per game. Weaver has also been strong on the boards, getting 8.6 rebounds per game.
