Jayhawks travel to Mercyhurst North East for a weekend clash

JAMESTOWN – Coming down the stretch of the regular season, the Jamestown Community College women’s basketball team will travel to Mercyhurst North East this weekend.

 

The Jayhawks (9-13, 2-4 WNYAC) are coming off a 92-52 loss against No. 11 Niagara County Community College this past Wednesday. Kayla Hohl led the team in scoring, netting 13 points. Courtney Hemminger had a solid game coming off the bench, scoring 11 points and grabbing six rebounds (4 offense, 2 defense) Gabby Iuculano had a good game running the point, finishing with five assists.

 

The last time Jamestown played the Saints, Mercyhusrst North East came away with a 78-71 win. IN the game, four players scored in double figures with Iuculano leading the way with 20 points. Jesse Zenns and Marisa Schuppenhauer had great games on the glass, coming away with eight rebounds each.

 

In conference action, JCC has scored 60.7 points per game while shooting 37.9 percent from the floor. The Jayhawks have gotten their offense from Iuculano who averages 13.7 points and Hohl with 12.7 points in conference games.

 

On the boards, the Jayhawks average 38.2 rebounds per game. Linnea Jimerson and Zenns are leading the way in terms of rebounds, grabbing just over five rebounds per game.

 

Jamestown will face a Mercyhurst North East team who have a 6-16 record on the year and a 2-4 record in conference action. The Saints have lost their last two games with their most recent loss coming against Genesee Community College this past Wednesday, 80-52. In the loss, Essence Sims had 32 points while Jayla Atkins had 12 rebounds.

 

In conference action, the Saints have scored 60.3 points per game while shooting 30.8 percent from the field. Mercyhurst North East has four players average double digits in conference play with Sims leading the way with 22 points per game.

 

On the glass, the Saints average 40.3 rebounds per game in conference play. Cerenity Chambers leads the way with 9.6 rebounds per game while Ozjanique Tate averages 7.5 rebounds per game.
